Why parents choose Tripper Dave's?
SUPERVISION
All staff of Tripper Dave's are experienced child care workers. Dave Martin personally leads all trips, joined by at least two other staff members. There will be one staff in each tent and canoe, and life jackets are carried for each person in the canoes. We guarantee 24-hour supervision to ensure that everyone is safe at all times.
NEW SKILLS
Campers are taught many new skills on our trips, such as how to set up a tent, build a campfire, cook a meal, and read a map. Canoeing and portaging skills are developed as we proceed along the trip. Environmental and low impact camping is stressed. Returning campers can build on their previous experiences by choosing more challenging routes.
PERSONAL GROWTH
A canoe trip is an excellent way to develop a child's independence, responsibility, and feelings of self-worth. Campers learn to work together as a group in their efforts to achieve a common goal, and to improve one's overall social and team-working skills. Children return from trip with a strong sense of accomplishment and a new appreciation for the wilderness setting.
WILDERNESS EXPOSURE
Getting away from the city and learning to appreciate the outdoors is an invaluable experience for a young person. Exploring their environment in ways that can only be done in parks like Algonquin, campers are captivated by moose along the riverbank, fishing in the morning calm, and seeing shooting stars in the stunning Algonquin night sky.
